About me
For the past twenty plus years, I have focused on developing and honing my skills in learner centered instructional practices and client centered counseling services. My formal education in Administration of Justice (B.S.) and Counselor Education (M. Ed) and my experience as a special education teacher and as a certified school and youth counselor has afforded me the tools to implement and facilitate a comprehensive instructional programs that promotes student achievement, personal growth and cultural responsiveness as primary goals.
I’m in my 25th year of experience as an educator, during these years, I have work as a behavior support service (BSS) teacher assistant in HISD, as certified special education instructor (BSS) at HISD’s alternative campus for behavior, a youth counselor for Harris County and as a self-contained special education instructor (BSS) at Alief’s alternative campus for behavior. I currently hold certifications for Special Education, Pre-K thru 12; School Counselor, Pre-K thru 12; Principal Certification, EC thru 12; and a Level-1 Certified Trauma Practitioner. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). In addition, I have served as eighth grade Counselor and Dean of Students at Francis Scott Key Middle School in the Houston Independent School District, Lead counselor at Morris Middle School in the Pasadena Independent School District. I am currently a member of the Behavior Response Team (BRT) in the Pasadena Independent School District.
